Most of us including myself are not very enthusiastic with a idea of eating leftovers, even after they are microwaved-daal(lentil) in particular.
However we need to understand that we need to customize the food to make them interesting for everyone including kids and Leftover Daal Chapati recipe is one such recipe. This recipe is inspired by a type of popular Indian flat bread “Missi Roti”, which is made from gram flour & wheat flour mixed in a proportion.
Prep Time: 15 min
Cooking Time: 10 min
Total Time: 25 min
Spice Meter: Medium
Ingredients for leftover chapati recipe:
Leftover Arhar daal (yellow pigeon peas) – 1 cup
Whole wheat Flour – 3 cups
Onion (chopped) – 50 gms
Garlic (chopped) – 1 tablespoon
Green Chillies – 1 teaspoon
Zeera (cumin seeds) – 1- teaspoon
Salt – to taste
Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon
Preparation of Leftover Daal Chapati recipe:
Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. Add warm water and prepare soft dough. Keep it aside for rest for 15 min.
Divide the dough into 12 equal balls. Make a round flat chapati and place it on flat hot pan till golden brown.
Now place it on hot plate and keep on flipping to avoid burn out however ensuring that its cooked properly.
Spread Butter/clarified butter (ghee) and serve them hot with curry of your choice.
Personally I like to serve Leftover Daal Chapati with Paneer butter masala curry with Onion slices and green mint chutney (dip).
