Fresh baked bread with strawberry preserve
Nothing can compare with a fresh baked twisted bread right from the oven with a generous spread of strawberry preserve.
This is one of the recipes which I like prepare quite often and very rarely do it wrong.
Prep Time: 5 -6 hrs
Baking Time: 30 – 35 min
Total Time: 6 hrs
All Purpose Flour (Maida) – 250 gm
Active Yeast – 1 teaspoon
Sugar – 3 teaspoon
Salt –½ teaspoon
Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon
Preparation of twisted bread dough:
Warm 25 ml water and add 3 teaspoon of sugar and stir to dissolve the sugar.
Now add ½ teaspoon of dry active yeast and keep it aside for 15 min till you see frothy mixture.
Note: Do not heat water above 80 degree Celsius as it would kill the yeast and yeast will not get activated.
Take all-purpose flour, olive oil and salt in 1 large bowl and mix it well using hands.
Now add activated yeast and prepare soft dough using warm water.
Keep this dough in covered warm place for 80-100 minutes or till it doubles in size.
Knead again using hands and keep it in warm place again for 80 -90 min
Divide dough into 4 equal balls.
For twisted long bread, divide the ball into 3 equal parts, make long thick threads and then overlap the three like a tie knot to get a twisted long bread shape
For round dinner roll shape make a single long thick thread and roll the same into round shape.
Cover it with moist cotton cloth and let it rest for 60 min.
Preheat the oven to 190 degree Celsius for 10 min.
Generously brush egg wash on all breads and sprinkle some sesame seeds
Put the Bread in preheated oven for 30-35 min till golden brown in colour.
Remove from oven and let it cool on the wire rack.
Cut the Bread into 2 halves using bread Knife.
Generously spread the strawberry preserve.
Serve them with your favourite coffee or any cold beverage of your choice.
